Sodus/Phelps: Stoic, respected, and loved, Ronald D. Pollay age 49 of Phelps, formerly of Sodus passed away at Rochester General Hospital on Monday October 19, 2015, surrounded by loving family and special friend and the best buddy a man could ask for, his “twin” Ron Henderson, and his beloved companion Doreen Vine. Born in Newark on September 22, 1966, he attended Sodus Central School, and had been employed by Garlock Sealing Technologies in Palmyra for the past 27 years. Ron was a very loving father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed by his daughter Cari Pollay, and granddaughter Zoie Dillon, the loves of his life. Ron is also survived by his parents Charles and Goldie Pollay of Alton; his siblings Chuck (Dawn) Pollay of Marion and their daughters Felicia and Heather; Dawn (Randy) Williams of Alton and their children Roxanne, Rachel, and Dustin; Rick Pollay and his sons Charles and James; and many other extended family members. Ron was an avid hunter, and in 1996 was the recipient of the Pope-Young award for a buck that he proudly nicknamed “Bucky.” Ron was an active member of the Sons of the American Legion in Phelps, and the Buckhorn Club in Phelps. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, October 24th from 11 – 2 p.m. with his funeral service following immediately thereafter from the Norton Funeral Home, 45 West Main Street in Sodus. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Phelps American Post, 1346 State Route 96, Phelps, NY 14532.
