Lawrence “Hippie” Plantz, 71, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Newark Wayne Hospital.

 

Lawrence was born on February 14, 1953 in Rochester, New York, the son of the late Lawrence K. and Merle Joanne (Bolduc) Plantz.  He was a self employed auto body repair man at Plantz Enterprises in Wolcott, NY.  He was the ultimate jokester and loved camping in the Thousand Islands, golfing, fishing, the Buffalo Bills and his cat Nelly.

 

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary (Reale) Plantz; his daughter, Jolene M. (Gerald White) Plantz; grandchildren, Cody (Hayley Frederick), Dominick. Tristen (Kenzie Hock)  and Haylee Roberts; great-grandchild, Damien Roberts;   siblings, Cheri (Mike) Dennie, David Plantz, Suzanne (Neal) Ratliff, Diane (Dennis) Condom, Bill (Sue) McKeown, Patty McKeown, Karen (Ted) Versluis, Marty (Donna) McKeown, Rodney (Trina) Plantz and Jeffrey (Lynn Duncan) Plantz; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and many special friends. 

 

He was predeceased by his granddaughter, McKenzie Roberts; his foster mother and father Lloyd (Yvonne) McKeown; his step-mother Bea Plantz; siblings Steve Plantz and Debbie Kramarsyck.

 

A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 2 PM at the Wolcott American Legion, 10675 Ridge Road, Wolcott.
