Sylvia M. Parolari Obituary

Sylvia Marlene Parolari

July 29, 1938 - November 27, 2025

Sylvia Marlene Parolari, 87, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at the Huntington Living Center in Waterloo, New York.

Born on July 29, 1938, Sylvia was the daughter of the late Lawrence & Elsie Taylor. She spent much of her childhood in Cato before moving to Clyde where she went to school. It was there that she met her first husband, Louis P. Mastrangelo, and had her five sons. She spent a number of years working at General Electric in Clyde and then in Auburn when GE moved there. She eventually remarried and settled in Wolcott with her second husband, Holley J. Caster.  After retiring from GE, she became a bus driver for the NRW school district, where many local children remember her fondly for her boisterous nature and firm expectations. When she handed in her keys to the bus, she turned to traversing the highways in a motorhome, spending time with family along the East coast and with friends in Florida. She loved to travel, and she spent the later portion of her life doing just that with her third husband, William E. Parolari.

Sylvia was known far and wide due to her travels and made a point to connect with everyone she knew along the way. It seemed she was always adding new names to her address book as well. She took great pride in her family and friends and had a deep, abiding love for each and every one of them. She will be lovingly remembered for hosting large, festive family gatherings with spectacular feasts to celebrate the holidays, and for reuniting friends and family whenever she had the opportunity. Her strong, zestful spirit, her many traditions, her tasty recipes, and her desire to keep everyone connected will always be with us. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and spent time with her.

Sylvia is pre-deceased by her husbands, Louis P. Mastrangelo, Holley J. Caster, and William E. Parolari; her son, Randall S. Mastrangelo, and her granddaughter, Melinda J. Colf. She is survived by her sister, Lois McClellan of North Carolina; her sons, Louis J. Mastrangelo (Melissa), Lawrence P. Mastrangelo (Sharon), and Richard L. Mastrangelo (Deb) all of Wolcott; David Mastrangelo (Missy) of Weedsport; and her daughter-in-law, Nicole Mastrangelo, also of Wolcott. She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, along with a slew of cousins, a niece, and friends who will miss her dearly.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for the Spring of 2026. Further details to be determined at a later date.
