Leon Waldron, 70, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 12, 2026, at home with his loving family by his side.
Friends and family are invited to call on Saturday, January 17, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Norton Funeral Home, 13081 W. Church Street, Savannah. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A celebration of his life will be held afterward at the Savannah Fire Department, 1770 NY‑89

Born on September 16, 1955, in Waterloo, Leon was the son of the late Emmett L. and Shirley A. (Caster) Waldron. He worked for many years as a diesel mechanic at J & J Trucking in Savannah, retiring as the shop foreman.
Leon was a lifelong volunteer of the Savannah Fire Department, where he served as assistant chief, fire commissioner, and fire police. He devoted countless hours to serving and protecting his community. His dedication, reliability, and steady presence will be remembered by all who served alongside him.
Leon is survived by his wife, Dawn (Potlaski) Waldron; his sons, Neil (Heather) and Heath (Laura) Waldron; his siblings, Nancy Stowell, Lawrence (Theresa) Waldron, and David (Dawn) Waldron; and his grandchildren, Emmett (Larissa Lash), Neil Jr. (Taylor Miles), Mercedes, Noel (his namesake), Brantley, and EllaMae Waldron. He is also survived by his sister‑in‑law Patricia Marriott; his brothers‑in‑law Ricky (Roxanne) Potlaski and Timothy (Tammy) Potlaski; along with several aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. Those who loved him will miss him dearly.
In addition to his parents, Leon was predeceased by his sisters, Lynn (Black) Albano and Sharon (Lopez) Jackson; and his brothers‑in‑law Michael Potlaski, Todd Stowell, and Larry Marriott.
