Savannah: Age 99, of Savannah decided she wanted to spend Valentine's Day with her husband in Heaven. She passed away on February 14, 2015 at the Huntington Living Center in Waterloo while holding her daughter's hand. Florence was born on December 22, 1915 in Savannah, NY to Harold and Lula O'Connor. She spent the next 94 years in Savannah. She attended the Savannah School, most of it in one room schoolhouses. Florence married H. Arthur Foster, also of Savannah, in 1934. She always said he was her only true love and has missed him so since his passing in 1983. She was a homemaker and attended the Savannah Methodist Church which later became the Savannah Family of God Church. Her favorite times were being with her family, having lunches and dinners out, and taking care of her Yorkshire Terriers. She also had loved doing needlework and was known for making her family gorgeous sequined calendars each year. Florence had loved tending to her rose garden and would give beautiful rose stems to friends that stopped over. Arthur and Florence had loved their winters in Arizona for many years and having friends and family stay with them in Mesa had been such a joy for Florence. She had a definite eye for fashion and her family could always count on her to give them ideas on the appropriate outfit for various occasions! She was predeceased by her husband, H. Arthur Foster, her sister, Gladys O'Connor Dickens and her brother, Harold O'Connor. Florence leaves behind the loving family of her daughter, Shirley Foster Jackson, her son, Norman Foster, 4 grandchildren, Trevor (Sharon) Jackson, Trena Fisher, Darrell (Jackie) Foster and Holly Foster. 9 great-grandchildren- Amber (Patrick) Higgins, Tiffiny (William) Cahoon, Tori Jackson, Tyanna Seelbinder, Tyler Jackson, Mariah Foster, Arthur Cole, Logan (Jessica) Cole, and Jamie FIsher. She also leaves 8 great-great grandchildren- Aeryn and Ellie Higgins, Calvin Cahoon, Greyson Durell, Aidan and Ashton Seelbinder, and Adelyn and Ryker Cole. Her dearest friends that have been such a comfort and joy for her include Carol Acquista, Richard Colvin, Sharon Noble and her nephew and his wife, Arthur and Phyllis Foster. A private Memorial Service will be held at a time determined by the family in the spring. Donations in memory of Florence may be sent to the Savannah Fire Department, 1770 Rt. 89 Savannah, NY 13146.
