El Dorado, AR: James F. Reese formerly of Red Creek passed away on January 3rd, 2015 in Little Rock, Arkansas following a two plus year battle with cancer. Jim was born in Schenectady on November 7, 1966. He graduated from Red Creek High School in 1985. He went on to graduate from Paul Smith’s School of Forestry and the School of Environmental Sciences and Forestry at Syracuse University S.U.N.Y. Magnum Cum Laude. He became an Eagle Scout while a member of the Red Creek and Cato Troops. He continued in scouting activities while residing in Arkansas by working with and assisting in scouting activities there. He was employed in the forestry industry doing work in most of the states of eastern United States. Jim is survived by his wife Cathy Reese of El Dorado, AR; step-son Eric Stephan of Texarkana, AR; his wife’s family in Arkansas and Texas; his father Theodore R. Reese and wife Janet Reese of Red Creek; brother Robert A. Reese and wife Krisin of Red Creek; nephews Benjamin and Danielle Reese of Red Creek; Devin Reese and Ashley Mills of Williamson; Trentin Reese of Red Creek; he also leaves an uncle, aunts, and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother Suzanne Reese in 1996. Jim was a member of the Wolcott Elks Lodge and the Society of American Foresters receiving their merit awards for the years 1989 and 1995. He was also a recipient of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Warren Bennet Memorial Award while attending S.U.N.Y/E.S.F. Funeral services and interment were held in Arkansas. Local services will be held at the Wolcott Elks on West Port Bay Road on April 25th beginning at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Union County Animal Shelter, 1000 Sunset Road, El Dorado, AR 71730, or to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital, 1 Children's Way, Little Rock, AR 72202. Local arrangements entrusted to the Norton Funeral Home of Wolcott.
