Melba Johnson, 89, of Sodus Center passed away on February 18th, 2017. She was born in Terry, Montana to the late Henry and Margaret (Caulfield) Smith. She is survived by daughter Valerie of Sodus; sons Allen, Robert (Lori) of Sodus Center and Phillip Johnson of Bath, New York; sister Marlyce; grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends. She is predeceased by husband John and brother Owen A. Smith. Melba worked at Xerox for 30+ years before retiring. Melba nurtured her children with resolute support, authority and tender care. Her sensible words kept problems in perspective. Melba’s kindness, warmth and humor will be missed by her family and friends. Keeping with her wishes, there will be no calling hours. Services will be held at a time convenient to the family. Burial will be held later in the spring at the Sodus Rural Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sodus Center Fire Company, 5521 Main St, Sodus Center, NY 14551.
