Wolcott: Passed away on Saturday November 26th, 2011, at the age of 87. Marvin is survived by his children, Marvin “Kim” (Mary Jane) Decker of Kansas, Murri (Sarah) Decker of Phelps and Kelli Decker of Avon; grandchildren Jessica, Sarah, Elizabeth, Mark, Erik, Kurt, Zachary, Adam, Matthew and Ben; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters Bernice Galek and Geraldine VanOstrand. Marvin was predeceased by his wife Lois, son Todd, siblings Kenny, Alice Bergstresser and Dorothy Hall. A lifelong resident of Wolcott, Marv had served in many civic capacities over the years. He was Wolcott Town Justice from 1968-1977, Wolcott Town Supervisor from 1978-2005, Chairman of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors 1981-2005, Member of the Empire Corridor Rail Task Force, President of the NYS Association of Chairs of County Legislative Boards, Secretary of the Wayne County Industrial Development Agency, Chairman of the Genesee Transportation Council, Chairman of the Advisory Board at Butler Correctional Facility, Chairman of the Finger Lakes Regional Planning Council, Chairman Board of Directors at Faith United Methodist Church in Wolcott, Member and past Master of Wolcott Lodge #560 F. & A.M., and member of the Butler Historical Society. Visitation will be held on Friday (Dec. 2nd) from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Norton Funeral Home, 5925 New Hartford Street, Wolcott. Funeral services will be held on Sunday (Dec. 4th) at 2 p.m. from the Faith United Methodist Church, 12223 Oswego Street, Wolcott. Interment will be at the North Wolcott Cemetery. Memorials in honor of Marv may be directed to either the Faith United Methodist Church, or to a charity of one’s choice.
