Sodus: Escaped the restraints of this world to fly on high with Jesus. Born October 24, 1926, she was the daughter of Kenneth John and Queeny (Simmons) Jordan in Coral Gables, Florida. A life long resident of Sodus, she had worked at Eastman Kodak during World War II, and then at Hanover Distributors in Newark until her retirement. Jeannette was a life member of the Third United Methodist Church of Sodus, was a proud Gold Star Mother, a former Mother of the Year as published in the Sun-Record. Jeannette had been a member of the Board of Directors for the Sodus Rural Cemetery and was instrumental in the cemetery’s return to its present day glory. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 57 years Richard M. Luckenbach II;, son Army Sgt. Richard M. Luckenbach 3rd who was killed in action at Binh Long, South Viet Nam, daughter Nancy E. (Oberdorf) Thompson; brothers Theodore, Grant, Adelbert, and Douglas Jordan; sisters Debra Mills, Thelma Byers, and Miriam Whitaker. Jeannette is survived by loving daughter Susan L. (Edward) Barbosa, son Karl L. (Tammy) Luckenbach; grandsons Todd (Jenn) Luckenbach, and Thomas (Alison) Luckenbach; great-grandchildren Jaykob, Krystlin, Dominyk, Kody, Zander and Autumn Luckenbach; one sister Margaret Wahl, all of Sodus; brother-in-law Luther T. Whitaker; sister-in-law Midge Jordan, both of Florida; many loving nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call Monday 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday 11 – 1 p.m. at the Norton Funeral Home, 45 West Main Street in Sodus. Jeannette’s funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Sodus Rural Cemetery.
