Obituary of Joyce E McNett

Sodus: Age 87, passed away peacefully on May 14th surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband Bruce, son David (Susan) and daughter Brenda Neal; grandchildren Jennifer (David), Abby (Jay), Rachel (Jeremy) and Paul (Jessica); great-grandchildren Hannah, Charlie, Jack, Chase, Landon and Grant. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Joyce’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

           Joyce was born Joyce Edith Buerman, with parents Nelanor and Morris, and a sister, Lois. Her childhood stories included riding the swayback horse on the farm and walking to school with her 2 goats, Mike and Ike. She also told us of her favorite pet raccoon, Daisy, and how she went to work with Joyce and could open the door herself to come and go as she pleased. She also spent many happy summers growing up at their cottage in Sodus Point – fishing, swimming and boating with family and friends.

          Joyce was a member of the Eastern Star and Myers Community Hospital Twig Association. She worked at Sodus Central School in many capacities, but most of her years were spent as Secretary/Clerk in the High School Main Office.

          With Joyce, family was her pride and joy. At Christmas time, the house was filled with decorations, food, presents and laughter. Her talent as a painter blossomed after retirement, as she painted sayings and pictures, including the Sodus Point Lighthouse, on different mediums to sell at craft shows.

          Friends and family are invited to call 3pm-5pm, Monday, May 21^st at the Norton Funeral Home, 45 W. Main St., Sodus, NY 14551. Where funeral service will follow promptly at 5pm.
