Obituary of Marilyn D. Garner

Marilyn Garner passed away on November 26, 2018 at the age of 72 following her courageous battle with mast cell leukemia. She was born in Sodus, NY on December 11, 1945 to parents Raymond and Doris Garner.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

She is survived by her children Jennifer Murray, Robert Blandino and Stephen Garner; granddaughter Caitlin (Jordan Gadsdy) Good and great granddaughter Charlotte; brother David Garner and sister Marjorie DeTaeye; husband Dennis Krebbeks.


Marilyn received her Nursing Degree from Finger Lakes Community College and later her BSN from St. Josephs College in Maine.  She worked as a Registered Nurse for 48 years, retiring from Newark Developmental Center as a Nurse Administrator.  She continued to work until earlier this year at many hospitals, including Lyons Community Hospital, Soldiers and Sailors in Penn Yan, St. Mary's, and University of Rochester. She worked up until her illness as a travel nurse through Excelon. Many good friends resulted from this enduring career.
 

She spent her free time researching her family's genealogy, boating and enjoying anything water-related. Travel was a lifetime pursuit. She was a longtime member of VFW Post 8137 in Montezuma, NY. Her home welcomed many and great memories were made throughout the years.


Friends and family are invited to call from 4:00-7:00 PM on Friday, December 7, 2018 at the Norton Funeral Home, 45 W. Main St., Sodus, NY 14551.  In keeping with her wishes, we will be hosting an Irish Wake at her home in Sodus Point, NY on Saturday, December 8 beginning at 3:00 PM. She will be laid to rest alongside her beloved parents at the Evergreen Cemetery in Huron.
