Sodus: Passed away on Friday, March 2nd, age 84 at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Ed is survived by his children Edward James Salter Jr., Sandra (Stephen) Wickman, Daniel (Yvonne) Salter, and Luann Bellinger; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren. Ed was predeceased by his wife Evelyn, daughter Linda, and by grandson Mark Bellinger. Ed was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Following recruit training at Sampson Naval Training Center, he served on the USS Heermann (DD-532), the USS Saginaw Bay (CVE-82), and with the Boston Group of the 16th Fleet. Following his naval service he worked as a Master Machinist at the Farrel Corporation in Rochester. A Memorial Service celebrating Ed’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 11th, at the Norton Funeral Home, 45 West Main Street in Sodus. Ed continued being a caring individual by becoming an Anatomical Donor to the U of R School of Medicine. Interment with Military Honors will be at the convenience of his family. In-lieu of flowers please consider a gift in Ed’s memory to the Sodus Center Fire Department.
