Wolcott: Passed away on Thursday June 7, 2012. Les was born April 2, 1927 in Clyde, son of the late Maurice and Lena Taber. He was a World War II veteran having served in the Army, and was later stationed in Japan. Les was Chief of Police for the Village of Wolcott for 27 years, and then served an additional 23 years as Wolcott Village Justice. He was a member of the New York State Chief’s of Police Association, the New York State Magistrate’s Association, the American Legion, and Veteran’s of Foreign Wars. Lester was predeceased by brother James Taber, sister Rose Nicosia, and grandson Jeremy Brockmyre. He is survived by his wife Kathryn; children Donna, Lorna (George) Brockmyre and Brenda Banwar; 2 grandchildren Nathan and Rob; 2 great-grandchildren Cody and Caleb; sisters and brothers Robert Taber, Evelyn Keifer, Betty Prosser, Alice Fowler, Mary Ellen LaPiana, Maurice (Elaine) Taber, Sandra (Bill) Hemmerline; several nieces, nephews, and his cat Pepper. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 2nd at the Huron Evergreen Cemetery on Dutch Street Road. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Wolcott Civic Free Library, or to the Humane Society of Wayne County. Arrangements: Norton Funeral Home of Wolcott.
