Butler: Passed away on Saturday October 20th, peacefully at the Pines of Peace, age 83. Norm is survived by his wife Marcia; his son Norman “Chet” VanDeusen; daughter Laura (Scott) Martin; grandchildren Brandon and Chase VanDeusen, Pierce, Shannon and Lauran Bucknam; great-grandchildren Travis and Josh Bucknam; brother Earl (Jackie) VanDeusen; sisters Trudy Hurley and Ardis Harriett. He will be missed by his big black cat Merlot. Norm was predeceased by his parent Judson and Laura VanDeusen, sister Sally Jones; brother Judson VanDeusen. Norm was a lifelong resident of Butler. He enjoyed raising turkeys, was a member of the NYS Chestnut Association, NYS Magistrate’s Association, was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a retired member of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol and Civil Divisions, and former Town Justice for the Town of Butler. He and Marcia enjoyed travelling, especially the Adirondack Region of New York State. There will be no prior visitation. A Memorial Service celebrating his life, followed by Military Funeral Honors will be held Friday, 10 a.m. at Lighthouse Community Fellowship Church, 3483 Route 89 in South Butler, Rev. Chris Ball officiating. Interment will be at the Rose Cemetery at the convenience of his family. Donations in Norm’s memory may be sent to New York State Sheriffs’ Association Institute, Inc., 27 Elk Street, Albany, NY 12207, and direct the donation to the Sheriff’s Summer Camp.
