I just learned of Stew's passing. Stew and I trained and showed dogs together, he with his Goldens, me with my Landseers. He was always a good friend and a terrific competitor who won more than he lost. He always had a kind word to say and was the embodiment of a good soul. Go for a 200 my friend.

I just seen about Stews passing on the AOMCI website. I knew Stew only by e-mailing & discussing race boats & motors. We had a similiar interest in the Pabst race boats built at LaCrosse Wisc. I was born & raised 50 miles north of LaCrosse & had & have Pabst race boats & knew the Pabst family very well & the history of their boat building. Stu was certainly a gentleman in his conversations with me. I offer my sympathy's to the family for your loss.

I will miss Stew and his advise and consul. His "free" advice was worth more than money could buy. His honesty and humor were a joy to behold. I hope he and my uncle Tom (aka Tom Cat) are together again racing somewhere.

Dawn,
Please accept my condolences to you and your family. I met you and Stew when I rented your cottage for a week 2 summers ago. Although I live right in Sodus I didn't have the opportunity to meet you until then. I was very pleased with both the cottage and also how nice you were to my boyfriend and myself. I will keep you in my prayers.

Stew will always be remembered by me as a Great Friend! Back in the days when he owned the marina he restored my boat Rock-A-Bye. What craftsmanship! Since then we had a few more dealings together and they always ended on a positive note. I will always remember when I sold his boat at Clayton. He wanted $6,000 for it. When he returned the next day after bringing it to Clayton the boat was covered up. He just looked at me wondering what was going on with his Boat! I said I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is I sold your boat. The bad news is I didn't get you your $6,000. The Look on his face I will never forget. Then I dropped on him that the boat sold for $7,500. That response was even better! It was times like that I will always remember about Stew- E. He will have my friendship forever! God Bless Stew! Jim Hawver

To Charlene and all the Sill Family - I will always remember as a child my Dad taking me ice skating on the bay behind the marina. As a teenager, working at Chase's Stew and the gang would come in for lunch every day. I cannot think of my hometown without including the Sill Family. With love and prayers to you.

The passing of a true gentleman, Stew was the ultimate in kindness,in giving encoragement, and wilIling to share his knowledge with anyone who asked. I learned more about dog training and being a gracious winner and loser from Stew than from anyone else in the dog world. My thoughts go out to Dawn and his family at this most difficult time. May he be running free with all his wonderful Goldens and sit beside his son Bill again.

I was new to competitive dog training when I joined DOTCORNY many years ago. Stew was always kind and helpful, even though he was very far above my level and some of my questions were quite elementary. I am very sorry that this world is no longer brightened by his presence, but am sure his light is still shining.

Dear Dawn and Family,
Very sorry about the passing of Stew. I can't say enough about his generosity to me. The day I met him, a few years ago, about 3 hours later he had invited me to bring my old wood right into his shop, he barely knew me. From there he treated me like a family member, let me come and go into the shop when I could to work on my little boat. He took his time to teach me about wood boat repair in his precise but calm manner. And we had a lot of talks, really good talks about boating, people, working with tools the old days - a lot of good stuff. He wasn't just a good teacher to me but became a good friend. I wish I had met Stew sooner in my life but really enjoyed the short time I knew him. And you Dawn, your graciousness was always nice to see - when you would come into the shop to make coffee for Stew.
I wish the best to you and your family at this time. Bob Hawkes
