Sodus: Age 80, died on April 2nd 2013 at Rochester General Hospital after a long illness. Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years Grace (Morton), his daughter Bonnie (Edward) Weiss , son Craig Arthur (Amy) Blauvelt; grandsons; Joseph (Linda Martens) Weiss and Kurt Allen (Richelle Bush) Weiss; great-grandchildren; Reagan Onnelee and Sophie Emerson; sisters: Leta Mitchell, Rose Johnson, Shirley Timmerman, Barbara (Howard) Crippen and Peggy (Paul) Crippen; brothers Leo (Kathy) and Les Blauvelt; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents William and Lillian; siblings Robert, Donald, Chuckie, Beverly Smith and Ruth Kotvis. Bill first worked for Stromberg-Carlson prior to entering the U.S. Army in 1953. He later worked at Myers Community Hospital, the Village of Sodus and at Sodus Central School. He served with the Sodus Fire Department for 58 years where he held almost every position including Chief, President and Director, was a lifetime member of the American Legion and Veteran's of Foreign Wars, a long-time member of the Boy Scouts of America as a scoutmaster and member of the Order of the Arrow. Friends may call Friday 2-4 & 7-9 at the Norton Funeral Home, 45 West Main Street in Sodus where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. John Eichenberger officiating. Interment with military honors will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Pultneyville.
