Obituary of Leo Green

Butler: Passed away on Saturday April 6th at home. Leo was born on February 10, 1923 in Waterford, PA son of the late Forest and Nellie Drake Green. Leo is survived by his wife Dorothy (Soules) Green who he married in 1946; and by his grandson Anthony Syrell (Beckie Sitch). He is predeceased by his daughter Bonnie Lou Kent, his parents; four sisters and three brothers.
A member of the Wolcott Elks and the American Legion, he had owned and operated a dairy farm for 32 years in Butler. Beginning in 1988 he hauled produce for Reckitt & Coleman.
Leo was a veteran of the Army Air Corps during World War II. At various times throughout the war, he was stationed in the U.S., Brazil, England, France, Germany and Central Europe. He served with the 1259th Military Police Detachment and attained the rank of Sergeant. Leo was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal w/4 Bronze Stars.
Family and Friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Norton Funeral Home, 5925 New Hartford Street in Wolcott. Funeral Services for Leo will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors will be at the Butler Savannah Cemetery on Rt. 89. Memorial contributions in Leo’s memory should be made to the American Cancer Society, 1120 Goodman Street South, Rochester, NY 14620.
