Obituary of Edward Cottrell

Sodus: Age 64, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2013. A lifelong resident of Sodus, he is the son of the late Freeman F. Cottrell and Jane B. Cottrell. He was predeceased by his brother Freeman B. Cottrell, sisters-in-law Norine Cottrell and Janine Cottrell and his brother-in-law Dana Dutton. Ned is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Marcia D. Cottrell, daughters Valerie (Bruce), Victoria (Matt), Meaghan (Ricardo), brothers John (Patricia) and James (Sharon), sister-in-law Patricia Cottrell, granddaughters Danielle, Ashley, Taylor-Lyn, Kaitlyn, Lauren along with many nieces, nephews, close friends, neighbors and his best friend Dexter. Ned loved Sodus and was always involved in his community. He was involved in little league, Big Brother Big Sisters, school musicals, community fundraisers, among other things. Ned loved baseball, especially the Yankees. His smile and personality always lit up the room. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 4-7pm at the Norton Funeral Home, 45 West Main Street in Sodus. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 2pm at the Sodus Presbyterian Church, interment will be at the Sodus Rural Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations are made in Ned’s memory to the American Diabetes Association and the Sodus Town Ambulance Corps.
