Obituary of Arthur Barber Sr.

Williamson: Born December 2, 1919 in Tallahassee Florida. The only son of Ardie Mae Drayton and Allen Barber. He married Ethel Peterson in Georgetown, GA on January 20, 1945. They moved to Sanford Florida and later settled in Wayne County where he raised his family. He came to know the Lord. In 1977 he became a Deacon in his church where he worked untiring. Arthur was known for being hard working. A family man, he was of few words, honest with a lot of integrity. He had a story to share with everyone. His grandsons couldn’t beat him at fishing on his worst day, and no one could grow a garden the way he could. Arthur was predeceased by sons Kenneth Barber and Timothy Barber. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 63 years and 14 children; Edna Mae Horn of Moultrie, GA, Moses (Pearl) Barber, Arthur (Dorothy) Barber Jr., Margie Wilson, Mary Barber of Newport News, VA, Linda Turgerson, Gloria Hatchett of Virginia, Bernard Barber, Ardie Barber, Janice Barber of Vero Beach, FL, Ronald (Jackie) Barber, Deborah (Frank) Jackson, Brenda Barber and Phillip Barber; 87 grandchildren; 127 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 2nd, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Norton Funeral Home, 45 West Main Street in Sodus. Arthur’s funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, from the Redeem Bethel Church of God in Christ, 4494 Route 104 in Williamson. Interment will be held at the Huron Evergreen Cemetery.
