Obituary of Carlton M. Gay

Savannah: Passed away peacefully at home, age 85 following a brief illness. A lifelong Savannah resident, Carlton was an Army Veteran, having served in the Korean War. He later served for many years as a Conservation Officer with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. Carlton is survived by his wife Lila; his son Allen (Roberta) Gay of Cohocton; grandson Perry (Marcy) Gay of Red Creek, granddaughter Melinda (Chris) Riley of Newport News, VA; four great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. at the Norton Funeral Home, West Church Street in Savannah. His funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday from the Lighthouse Community Fellowship Church, 3483 State Route 89 in South Butler. Interment with Military Honors will follow at the Butler-Savannah Cemetery on Rt. 89. Memorial contributions in Carlton’s name may be directed to a charity of one’s choice.
