CLYDE- Sylvia Laird, 76, passed away peacefully, Saturday afternoon, February 25, 2023, at Newark Wayne Community Hospital, with her loving and devoted family by her side.

A celebration of Sylvia’s life will be Saturday, March 18 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Savannah Fire department hall, 1770 State Route 89, Savannah.

Sylvia’s family suggest memorial contributions be direct to either her family C/O Dale Laird, 8 North Street, Clyde, N.Y. 14433 or Lipson Cancer Institute at Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic, 2 Coulter Rd., Clifton Springs, N.Y. 14432.

Sylvia was born on June 1, 1946 in Lyons, the daughter of the late Milton D. and Eugenia M. (Ball) Black. She worked at Blue Ridge Farms, Westcott Rule, Parker Hannifin, the cafeteria at Clyde – Savannah School and babysat many children. She and her husband, Dale, were always together and enjoyed going to car shows in the area and Windmill in Dundee. She was a member of the Muskland Cruiser.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Dale E. Laird, whom she married on October 9, 1970; her daughters, Erica Baldwin, Jacqueline (Ted) Fitch and Victoria Hess; her grandchildren,Ernest Baldwin Jr., Shana Suttle, Dylan (Courtney) Hess, Kyle (Alexandra DeSousa) Fitch and Abigail Fitch; five great grandchildren; her brothers William, Miltona and Norman Black; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents Sylvia is preceded in death by her brother, Robert Snyder.
