Ralph Sheldon, 83, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday morning, April 16, 2023 at his home.

In keeping with Ralph’s wishes there will be no public calling hours or service.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Pioneer Cemetery.

Ralph’s family request memorial contributions be directed to the Boy Scout Troop 115, 6025 New Hartford St, Wolcott, NY 14590.

Ralph was born November 11, 1939, in Oswego, the son of the late Milford and Lillian (Drury) Sheldon.  As a young man, Ralph worked in his father’s garage and gas station.  After he graduated from high school Ralph attended SUNY Oswego and received his degree in elementary education.  He was also active in the chorus. He met Barbara Purtell and they were married August 18, 1960. His first teaching position was with Hannibal Schools. He then moved to Wolcott to teach and start a family.

Ralph enjoyed being active in his church, boy scouts, volunteering for WAVAC, camping with his family and inspiring young minds.  Ralph met his soulmate, Loretta (Merkley) in 1992 and they married November 6, 1993. They enjoyed their grandkids, camping, senior trips and card games with friends.

Ralph is survived by his loving and supporting wife Loretta; step-daughter Missy (Jeff) Colvin; his daughters Michelle (Wade) Curtis, Lisa (Brian) Neal and Tammy Parker; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents Ralph is preceded in death by his sisters Kathleen Hermann and Marjorie Sheldon.
