Linda Yancey, 75, passed away unexpectedly Thursday May11, 2023 at her home.



 


Friends and family are invited to call Saturday, May 27 from 11AM to 1PM at Norton Funeral Home, 5925 New Hartford Street.  Burial will follow in Huron Evergreen Cemetery.



 


Linda was born June 19, 1947, in Binghamton, the daughter of the late Perry H. and Charlotte (White) Young. She Graduated from Penn Yan High School and was also a graduate of SUNY Oswego. Linda was one of the first woman assessors in NYS working for the townships of Ontario, Old Forge, and Ontario County and founded the first Western NY chapter of IAAO.  She was very active in Rotary and was a 30+ year member of the American Legion Auxiliary.  She founded an Apple Winery where she developed apple slushies.   She was a breeder of Cocker Spaniels and Bernese Mountain Dogs winning several blue ribbons. Her drive for living led her on several adventures across Europe, Iceland and the U.S.  She was never afraid of any challenge and embraced life.



 


Linda is survived by children Staci (David) Dayton and Steven (Carlo Pirelli) Wager; stepson Michael (Sarah) Yancey; grandchildren Dylan and Drew Dayton; a sister Lorrie (Lynn) Spencer; a brother Jack (Nancy Havrillo) Ottaway; several nieces, nephews and cousins.



 


Besides her parents, Linda is preceded in death by her husband Mason.
