Karen L. (Gregory) Buyck

Karen L. Buyck, 73, passed away Thursday 17, 2023 at Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center, Rochester.

Friends and family are invited to call Saturday, August 26 from 10 AM to Noon at Bible Baptist Church of Sodus, 6181 Ridge Road. Funeral services will follow at noon at the church. Burial will be in the Sodus Rural Cemetery, Rte. 88 Sodus, following the service.

Karen was born December 24, 1949 in Albany, NY the daughter of the late Howard L. and Elaine L. (Sanefski) Gregory, Jr.  She was a graduate of Bethlehem Central School and SUNY Geneseo, where she received her Bachelor Degree in Speech Pathology. She worked as a counter person for the Sodus Williamson Pennysaver.  Karen enjoyed music and she and her husband belonged to four worship service praise teams.  She also did outreach at the Sodus Nursing Home, was an avid gardener, enjoyed quilting and taught others her craft of stamping. She became a Gold Star Mother after the active duty death of her son Jason USMC.

She is survived by her husband, who she married on June 10, 1972 James G; her son Andrew J (Samantha “Sam”) Buyck; a daughter-in-law Patty Buyck; a sister Donna Greene; a brother Alan (Mary) Gregory; grandchildren Jason K., Jameson W. and Brooklynn L. Buyck; several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Karen is preceded in death by her son Sgt. Jason A. Buyck, USMC; her brother Scott Gregory.
