Chester Helmer, 85, passed away day, January 20, 2024 at home with his family by his side.
Chet was born on November 16, 1938 in Montezuma the son of the late Chester C. and Golda (Allen) Helmer. He served in the US Airforce from 1956 – 1958. For 27 years he worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for IOUE #832 out of Rochester. He was a fire chief in Savannah.
He is survived by his loving and supporting wife of 50 years Geraldine “Gerry” (Reading); his daughters Tina Helmer, Kelly (Tim) Carmon and Patty (Joe) McBride; his sons Richard J. (Linda), Donald (Lisa) Helmer and Gerald Helmer and Timothy Capron; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is predeceased two sisters Edna (Howard) Sanders L. and Jean Helmer; his brother Richard L. (Ann) Helmer.
A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Cayuga Fire Department, 6233 Court St., Cayuga, NY 13034
