Obituary of Edna P. Preston

Edna Pearl Preston was born on May 25, 1932 in Lumpkin, Georgia to John Henry Thomas and Rosie Mae Flowers. She grew up in Union Springs, Alabama where she took care of her younger siblings in order for her parents to do farm work. Edna ultimately moved to Orlando, Florida where she met and married her late husband, Morris Preston. After starting their family in Orlando, they moved to upstate New York where their two youngest children were born. In 1978 her husband passed away leaving her with five of their children still at home. She was employed at Cahoon Farms in Huron, NY until she retired due to medical reasons. Edna has been a longtime member of Christian Fellowship MB Church and has continued her membership after moving to Webster, NY. Some of her best memories are from her years as an usher. She was a faithful usher and served with pride until she had to stop because of health problems. Edna’s joy came from her family. She loved her children and grandchildren and her life was full when she was with them. Although her health began to fail over the past year, she was able to spend quality time with her family. Having departed this life on Friday, July 19, 2013, Edna is survived by: seven children, Mack (Thelma) Brown, Mary Ann Preston, Lilly Preston, Roe Fredricks, Sally Douglas, Edna M. Preston and Mark (Neda) Preston; eight grandchildren, Darren, Michael, Camilo, Jackson, Leslie, Kawana, Jeremy and Elias; 9 great-grandchildren, four brothers, Clinton Thomas of Michigan, Willie B. Thomas of Alabama, George E. Thomas of Georgia and George B. Thomas of Florida; a special niece and nephew, Bonnie Willis and Willie Tellis both of Michigan and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Friends may call at Norton Funeral Home, 45 West Main Street, Sodus, NY on Thursday, July 25, 2013, 4 - 7 PM. Funeral Service at 1pm Friday July 26, 2013 at the Christian Fellowship MB Church, 4000 Covell Road, Rose, NY 14542. Interment will be at the Huron Evergreen Cemetery.
