John D. Albanese, Sr. 94, formerly of Newark, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at the Sodus Rehab and Nursing Center.

John was born August 2, 1929 in Canastota, NY the son of the late Ettore and Rose D. (Franchell) Albanese. After graduating from the Newark high school he served in the Army from 1951 until 1953. Returning to Newark, he began his long career with the US Postal Service, retiring in 1985.  

John was a charismatic storyteller who loved his family, friends and the NY Giants. He is predeceased by his parents; sisters: Rose Mary Bramante and Virginia Avino, and grandson David Albanese. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Louise A. (Evangelist) Albanese; his daughters; Lisa Albanese and Leah (Jack) Farnsworth, sons; John D., Jr. (Jenifer Gansz) and James (Pam Follett) Albanese, and grandson Matthew Albanese.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 31st from 5-7 pm. at Norton Funeral Home, 45 W. Main Street, Sodus.  Burial, with full military honors, will be Saturday, June 1, 10 AM, at the Newark Cemetery, N. Main Street, Newark.
