William Charles Cahoon

William C. Cahoon entered into eternal rest at his Wolcott home on Saturday, September 14th, 2024, surrounded by loving family.
Bill (nickname) was born in New Amsterdam, NY on July 19th, 1940. Bill was the son of the late Donald and Marjorie (Pitcher) Cahoon. A 1958 graduate of the Leavenworth Institute, Bill went on to graduate from Cornell University in 1962 with an Agricultural Major. Bill and his brother Duane later purchased Cahoon Farms, Inc. from their father; Bill serving as Vice President and co-owner for over two generations, providing employment to the local community. Bill was also founder of the Bovee Storage Co. He was a lifelong active participant in the local and New York State agricultural community. Bill was also a former member of the Elks Club and Lyons Club. Bill enjoyed playing golf with his brothers. With his brother Joe, he coached the NRW Girls Basketball team for many years. He loved animals, particularly English Springer Spaniels.
In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his granddaughter Alison van Es and grandson Alexander William Gleken.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Valerie Wilson Cahoon; his children Pamela (Richard) Lee, Thomas (Martha) Cahoon, Lisa (Greg) Calley, Elizabeth (Don) Ludwig, Mary (Dennis) van Es, Will (Tiffiny) Cahoon; his brothers and sisters Duane (Nancy), Joan, Ginny (Dave), Suzanne (Larry), Emily (David), Bob (Shelley), Joe (Tina), Jim (Katie), and Melinda (Bill).
Bill was a lifelong supporter and icon of our community. He walks now with Jesus among the orchards of Heaven.
Calling hours are from 4:00PM – 7:00PM Friday, September 27th at the Norton Funeral Home, 5925 New Hartford Street, Wolcott. A funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 28th, 2:00 PM at the Wolcott 1st Presbyterian Church, Northrup Ave, Wolcott. Reception to follow directly after service for family and friends at the Wolcott Fire Department on West Port Bay Road. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Huron Evergreen Cemetery.
