Obituary of Erwin S. Flint

Marion: Passed away on September 3rd at the age of 70 with family by his side. Erwin was born July 15, 1943 in Wolcott, NY to Fredrick & Enid Flint. He was raised on a farm in North Wolcott until he joined the Armed Forces. In 1971, Erwin received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Army after serving six years including a tour in Panama. Erwin had been employed with Garlock, Inc for 38 years when he retired from being a machinist in 2005. Erwin leaves behind a legacy of memories that will be cherished by all who knew him. He was known for his humor and unwittingly charm and received the nickname Smiley because of those qualities. Smiley loved life and prided himself in his children, Dustin (Cande) Flint, Brandon (Deanna) Flint, Heather (Shawn) Hitchner and Rebecka (Dennis, Jr.) Brown and grandchildren. He was a man of great strength, and that coupled with his drive got him through many tough times. Smiley will be greatly missed; however one will not be able to think of him without remembering his amazing personality and contagious smile. Friends and family may calll on Friday, September 13 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Norton Funeral Home, 5925 New Hartford St. in Wolcott. A Memorial Service which will include Military Honors will be held Saturday, September 14th at 11:00 am at the North Wolcott Christian Church, 12764 Church St. Wolcott, NY. Friends and family are invited to stay for a luncheon immediately following the service to share stories and memories.
