Obituary of Dorothy S. Weeks

<p>Dorothy S. “Dodie” Weeks, 91, formerly of Urbana, Ill., died March 11, 2014, in LaCrosse Wisconsin where she had come to live eight years ago to be near her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Ronald Chaney. Mrs. Weeks lived at The Willows assisted living facility for her first six years in LaCrosse and more recently had been a resident of Bethany Riverside.</p>
<p>She was born July 10, 1922, in Grayville, Ill., a daughter of Earl and Alice Briswalter Skiles. She attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 1942 she married Francis W. Weeks, a faculty member in the U of I Department of English. He died in 1993.</p>
<p>She is survived by her seven daughters and their families: Hilda Kuter and her husband David of Madison, Wis., and Chris, Andy and Emily Kuter; Anne Weeks and her husband Ola Royrvik of Skedsmokorset, Norway, and Bjorn and Ellen Royrvik; Ginny Weeks of Browning, Mont.; Sally Weeks of Brownsville, Texas, and Christina Somlo; Muffie Bilyeu and her husband Mike of Bozeman, Mont., and Ali and Drew Bilyeu; Cyndi Muiznieks and her husband Vik of North Chelmsford, Mass., and Laura, Carolyn and Paul Muiznieks; and Janet Chaney and her husband Ron of LaCrosse, and Liz, Evan and Wilson Chaney. Mrs. Weeks is also survived by two great-grandchildren.</p>
<p>In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Martin Royrvik; a son-in-law, Tibor Somlo; and her sister, Mary Phyllis Preston.</p>
<p>Mrs. Weeks was a member of the Urbana-Champaign Friends Meeting (Quakers) and for many years served as its treasurer. While raising her family, she at various times was a Brownie leader, Girl Scout leader, 4-H leader and PTA president. She was a member of Delta Zeta sorority. Ballroom dancing was her favorite pastime.</p>
<p>Family memorial services were private. Interment will be next to her husband in the Weeks family plot in South Sodus Cemetery, Sodus.</p>
<p>Memorial contributions may be made to the Urbana-Champaign Friends Meeting, 1904 E. Main St., Urbana, IL 61802.</p>
