Obituary of Anthony C. "Chooskie" Colasurdo

Clyde: Anthony “Chooskie” Colasurdo, age 92, passed away at home on June 30th, with his loving family at his side. Born September 9, 1921 in Clyde, he was the son of Nicholas and Theresa Colasurdo. Anthony is survived by his wife of 67 years, Alice (Winter) Colasurdo; children Karlene (Richard) Freyn of Palmyra, Steven (Louise) Colasurdo of Shortsville, and Diane Colasurdo of Geneva; six gransons, Ryan (Kate), Kevin (Raquel), Michael, Brendan, Christopher, and Daniel; daughter-in-law Kathleen Colasurdo of MA. Anthony was predeceased by his parents Nicholas and Theresa Colasurdo, son Charles Colasurdo; sisters Lucy Chiperano, and Jenny Delio; brother Joseph Colasurdo. A World War II Army veteran, Anthony served in the European Theater of Operations (1942-1945). He was a member of the Bud Hinman V.F.W. Post 947, and the American Legion. Anthony was lifetime member of the Clyde Fire Department for 64 years, and was a member of the Fire Police Association, and Civil Defense for many years. He had been employed as a machine operator on the railroad for New York Central, Penn Central, and Conrail, retiring in 1982 as a foreman. Anthony then spent 12 ½ years with the Clyde Police Department working as a school crossing guard with the Clyde-Savannah School District. Visitation will be Friday July 11th from 1-3 & 6-8 p.m. at the Norton Funeral Home, 13081 West Church Street in Savannah. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday from St. John’s Catholic Church (St. Joseph the Worker Parish), 114 Sodus Street in Clyde, Fr. Augustine Chumo will be the celebrant. Interment with Military Honors immediately following at St. John’s Cemetery in Clyde.
