My, belated condolences to the family, friends and fans of the late Betty Everett. But what a legacy she left for all of us, of beautiful songs and music.

I heard Betty Everett's song with Jerry Butler for American Bandstand, "Let It Be Me" and loved that song as sung by the two of them, knowing she was so ill at the time I watched Betty's performance over and over again.
Then for my radio show in UK I did an interview with Jay B Ross, who took Betty to her, what was to be, last performance. Jay told me she was so sick all the way to the show, but with Jerry's help and with the help of the best audience of her life, she sang the song with him perfectly. He watched the show from the side of the stage and told me the audience gave her a standing ovation that actually lifted her up. Betty was perfect and that song was the best she had ever sung it. I am opening a blues show with my friend Martha High who sang with James Brown for 32 years and we are singing Let It Be Me as a tribute to the lovely and beautiful Betty Everett,

Dear Ralph and Family, Marge and I were devastated upon hearing of Betty's passing. You and Betty were two of the nicest folks we've even known, starting when I worked at the LSN with her. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time of sadness.
Marge and I are now living at the Parkwood Heights senior living complex in Macedon.
