Obituary of Merrill E. Baker

Sodus: Passed away peacefully on Friday November 28th at age 89, following a lengthy illness. Born in Lyons, he resided in Sodus, and then later in North Rose. Merrill was a prominent agricultural salesman who had served all of the upstate New York area. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army, was a 60 year member of the Sodus United Third Methodist Church, an active member of the Sodus Rotary Club,
F. & A.M. (Sodus Lodge #392), and was a member of Damascus Shrine (A.A.O.N.M.S.) of Webster.
Merrill is survived by his wife of 66 years Jean Tierney Baker; daughter Sandra (William) Hall; son David (Laura Castor) Baker as well as 4 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Sodus United Third Methodist Church (corner Main and Belden). Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 1 p.m. from the United Third Methodist Church, interment with military honors will follow at the Sodus Rural Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Merrill may be sent to the church, Shriners Hospitals for Children, Office of Development,
2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607, or to the Activity Fund at Blossom View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sodus. Arr: Norton Funeral Home.
