Obituary of Ruth Shanley

Wolcott: Formerly of Batavia, passed away Tuesday, May 26th at the age of 80. Ruth married John Shanley May 11, 1957. They resided in Batavia for many years before moving to Wolcott, NY in 1973. Ruth worked for Wayuga News and was treasurer for Glenside Cemetery. Ruth also volunteered at the Wolcott Civic Free Library. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church.
Ruth is survived by her children; Darlene (Richard) Stevens, Dawn (John) Budinock, John “Skip” Shanley Jr.; grandchildren Alexander and Eric Stevens, Alyssa and Kara Budinock; sisters Rose Overdurf, Lucy Binks, Frances(Wayne) Oakley. Brother-in- law Lawrence (Sarah) Shanley, sister-in-law Nora Scofield, Grace Saquella and Marge Balduf. Several nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by her husband John, parents, Pasquale and Caroline Saquella, brothers Michael and Pasquale Saquella, brother-in-laws Raymond Overdurf, Sidney Binks and Ronald Shanley.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 1st, 4-6 p.m. at the Norton Funeral Home, 5925 New Hartford St., Wolcott. Funeral will be immediately following. Interment will be held at Glenside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Golisano Children’s Hospital, Rochester, NY.
