Obituary of Curtis Pitts

Williamson: On February 23, 1921, Alma Mason Pitts and Joe W. Pitts were blessed with a baby boy, Curtis Pitts. He was the first born of Alma and Joe and became big brother to Mary Pitts (deceased), Willie Pitts (deceased) and Dimple Pitts. In 1939 Curtis was married to Mattie Debose. Following 66 years of marriage, Mattie died in January of 2005.
A World War II Army Veteran, Curtis served in the European Theater of operations. He came to New York State in 1962 from Dothan, Alabama. He worked several jobs in the area before retiring from Ward’s Natural Science where he had been employed for 18 years.
Curtis decided to say goodbye on Wednesday July 8, 2015. He leaves to cherish his surviving son Joe (Mae) Pitts of Williamson; daughter Gussie Redding of Long Island; sister Dimple Pitts of Detroit, MI; 6 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Curtis was predeceased by his wife Mattie; son Carl Pitts; sister Mary; brother Willie; grandson Joe Pitts Jr.
Visitation will be held on Friday July 17th from 6-9 p.m. at the Norton Funeral Home, 45 West Main Street in Sodus. Funeral service will be Saturday July 18th, 1 p.m. from the Sodus Church of God, 6055 Buerman Road, Sodus. Interment with Military Honors will be held at the Furnaceville Cemetery, Trimble Road, Ontario, NY.
