Age 82, formerly of Sodus Point, died on Friday, April 3, 2009 in Newark Wayne Community Hospital. Mrs. DeMent was predeceased by her husband Kenneth in 2003. She is survived by 5 children; Carol Smith and Nancy DeMent, both of Sodus Point; Linda (Robert) McNamara of Rochester; Kenneth Jr. (Brenda) of Panama City, Fl.; and Barbara DeMent of Alton; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters: Walter (Mary) Whitney and Kenneth (Theresa) Whitney all of Rochester, William (Carol) Whitney of Avon, Neta (Ron) Seever and Richard (Penny) Redder all of Rochester, brother-in-law, Richard (Betty) DeMent of Sodus; sisters-in-law: Esther (Richard) Allaire, Linda Whitney and Ruby Whitney, all of Rochester, Ruth Whitney of Hawaii, and Vera DeMent of Fairport; nieces and nephews. Friends may call Monday 10:00 – 12:00 at the Norton Funeral Home in Sodus where funeral services will follow at 12:00, with the Rev. Gail Heimberger officiating. The family wishes to give special thanks to the staff of the Wayne County Nursing Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Sodus Town Ambulance Corp., PO Box 344, Sodus, NY 14551
