Pete Hogan’s sudden and quiet departure from us seems in style for Pete’s life.
A quiet yet deep individual who had his passions and longings. I knew Pete in school. He was 3 years younger but we Sodus Pointers stuck together regardless of age. We often sat together on the school bus and later played sports together at school. It wasn’t until his college days that Pete and I became brothers… fraternity brothers TKE. We shared that secret bond and talked of loves and losses.
Still later in life Pete became to me a local hero... a special parent. I worked with parents of children with special needs all over the world, but Pete was someone I knew well and in my neighborhood. He had the same struggles as any special parent but found and shared his son’s special interest and became a supporter and friend as well as father.
I was so pleased to be able to assist Pete when he needed a strong hearing aid that would cost a days pay instead of a months pay. It was a joy to watch Pete capture once again the full sound track of life, but knew in Pete’s own way he would filter the sounds he liked and dance to his own music. That was Pete. Others knew Pete far better than I did, but what I knew I hold dear. Pete departed suddenly and quietly but will remain an enduring presence for many of us.

Dear Hogan Family,
I cannot express how saddened I was to hear from my sister Debbie about Pete's unexpected passing. Many memories of Pete and the Hogan family came flooding back.
Our childhood days in Sodus Point were so full of fun times whether we we were at the community center, roller skating at Krenzner's rink, skating on the bay, swimming off the pier, attending the dances at the beach, and later partying at the Dolphin. My best time spent with Pete was when we went to Watkins Glen to watch the races with my sister Debbie. Though we got soaked in the rain and muddy field, we still laughed the whole time. I so enjoyed my friendship with Pete who was like a big brother to me as well as to Laurie and the younger girls. I wish I had seen more of him in our adulthood.
My sincere condolences at this difficult time. I hope your memories of Pete will be a comfort to you and ease the burden of your saddened hearts in the days ahead.
Much Love to you all.
