'Coach' was with us at Kanty Prep in Erie, Pa.
It was only about a month ago that I found out 'Coach' has passed. Decades after being one of his students, simple yet strong lessons I learned from him helped me through some pretty rough times in my life.
He was a good, honest, man who knew what he was talking about and provided a good example of what a man should be. The world lost one of the best.
It is sad enough that the old High School is gone. Now 'Coach' is gone too.

My heart is heavy with the loss of Coach LaRock. He was a character builder...he touched many lives and Sodus was blessed to have him at the helm of the Athletic Department. The coolest thing I will remember was seeing the Sodus Basketball team photo in the Basketball Hall of Fame, what an awesome legacy.

Our family sends heartfelt sympathies to Coach LaRock's family and friends in the loss of Coach. Coach was an icon in his lifetime at SCS. Many in our family played on his teams or attended his games where school pride and good sportsmanship were always exemplified. One of our members even went to LeMoyne College and played Division I Baseball with the support of Coaches LaRock and Tom Miller. He is now serving his city as a police officer. Many thanks for all you did Coach and so Rest in Peace as we continue in the team spirit of excellence you embodied and leave as our legacy.

Other teams probably had deeper pools of talent, but they certainly did not have better coaching. Regardless of who we played, we were always in the game. All credit goes to Coach for getting the best out of us. We were teenagers with little appreciation for the subtle, but extremely important lessons we were receiving.
Participating in sports is not the only place to learn perseverance, teamwork and how to handle winning and losing. Other pursuits, academic or otherwise, reflect life situations as well. However, for me and many others it was participating in sports that cultivated these values. Coach was at the heart of this. He is certainly a factor in the success that many of us have in our lives. The values and characteristics that he worked to develop in us are timeless, and the impact of his lessons will provide bearings for generations that will not have had the good fortune to have known him.
I would like to express thanks to those that cared for Coach in his home. I was pleased to be told by Blossom View that he was not there when I went to visit him; he was home. When dealt with such a situation, I can’t imagine wanting anything more than to be home with friends.
Sincerely,
Brett Burley

Very sorry to read of the passing of your dear loved one Edwin. It seems that life is such a precious gift and yet so short-lived for the time we exist. I am writing to share a few words of comfort and encouragement. God holds out a wonderful hope for all those in the grave. At John 11:25 Jesus said "I AM THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE. HE THAT EXERCIES FAITH IN ME, THOUFGH HE DIES, WILL COME TO LIFE."
The bible gives nine accounts of ones who were resurrected. That should strengthened our faith that God can bring back to life the billions of dead people he holds within his memory. (John 5-28,29) What a blessed reason to hope in God!
We all have been given the gift of our memories. As you and yours start to heal the memories of Edwin will give you great joy.
Greving is the normal and natural respond to the loss of some one you love. I found three ways that helped me. Talking and writing about my feelings. Also reading the information in the bible about the resurrection.
Continue to lean on Jehovah God for the strength you need at this sad time. (Psalms 83-18)

I attended some of the sectional basketball games, my favorite being Sodus winning over Newark at the War Memorial. Ed, of course was the coach, and the pride that he beamed for his boys was undeniable. He was one great guy in high school and he continued that legacy throughout his life.

Although you were never my coach on a field or a court you were my "Coach". You not only taught great things in sports but the life lessons you taught were unbelievable. It is so amazing to me the amount of people you have touched in your life time. Thank you for everything you did for this community and school district! Just AMAZING!

Ed Larock, "Dad" to many, epitomized to me what love truly is. He had too much love in him not to have a family, and one of his greatest acomplishments to me was his role as an 'exchange father'. He was an extra dad to us, maybe a surrogate father of one year. God knows how much did I grow up under his wings. God will tell him, because I couldn't. If thoughts ever matter where you are dad, take this one: Thank you! I love you. We all did.
Ed is a great person. A loving person, a respectful one, an open minded one. I am so happy to read that he died with loved ones around him. Life was fair to him on this. I wish you all in Sodus and all of Wayne County will render him a proper homage.

Dear Dad,
I am so glad I was able to see you once more in December last year. I was able to tell you in person that you have been the most influential and important person in my life. All the things I have learned from you I am already trying to pass on to people that are important to me and I will continue to do so. I hope one day I will also be able to look back at my life and having done so many good things to others. You always thought of us first and then yourself. Driving us to the mall, driving me for Tennis practise even when it was snowing but most importantly the love you have giving me.
I will carry on my life with the values you have taught me and I will make sure that I will not disappoint you.
Dad, I love you and I always will love you!
Your son
Ralf
