Obituary of James Wayne Pickard

Newark/Wolcott: Unexpectedly on Friday March 26th, age 52. Jim is survived by his wife Paula Pickard; daughters Becky (Billie) Crum and Jamie (Mike) Dunn; grandchildren Ann Marie, Skyler, Austin, Angil and Terrie; mother Anna Pickard; brothers David Pickard Sr., Harry (Karin) Pickard, Richard (Darlene) Pickard; sisters Mary Hutchinson, Joan Teeter, Edith Gleason, Linda (Robert) Hill and Ginnie (Dave) Teeter; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father Glenn Pickard. Jim served his country for 21 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant in the Army. Decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Superior Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, NCO’s Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and Expert Marksmanship Badge. A former employee of Newark Wayne Community Hospital and the Wayne County Nursing Home, he was employed with the U.S. Postal Service at the time of his death. He enjoyed fishing, canoeing, walking, and being active in his grandchildren’s lives. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Colvin-Robertson-Norton Funeral Home, 5925 New Hartford Street in Wolcott. Jim’s funeral will be Thursday, 10 a.m. from the Wolcott Baptist Church. Interment with Military Honors will be held at the Huron Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be directed to the Wolcott Baptist Church, or to the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center, Syracuse.
