Sodus: Shirley Floyd was born unto the late Charles Lee Floyd and mother Pearl Lee Keaton. She was born in Leary, GA. As a young girl she moved to Ontario, NY where she attended high school.
Shirley worked at Xerox for several years, but her niche was housecleaning. From that came canning, flower gardens, vegetable gardens and cooking.
She loved to watch her family eat and enjoy her cooking. She especially loved summer cookouts. During Christmas time she would be in the kitchen weeks in advance, creating some of the tastiest variety of cookies you would ever have the chance to eat.
Family was the biggest pleasure of Shirley's life. She leaves to cherish her memory her mother Pearl Lee Keaton; son Tony (Tynia) Smith; daughter Shirley Denise Jones; sister Bernice Jasper; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; long standing friend Lorenzo Smith Sr.
Funeral services for Shirley will be held Saturday May 15, 2010 at the Upper Room Church, Redman Road, Sodus. Interment will be at the Sodus Rural Cemetery.
