Obituary of Steven S. Sill ("Window")

Sodus Point: On July 14, 2010, went home to his family and friends who have passed before him. Steve is survived by his wife, Sharon Pyle Sill; sons, Sean S. Sill 1st Class Petty Officer (Tara Cermak) and Seth S. Sill; mother, Jeanne Sill Welt; brother, Stewart (Dawn) Sill; sister, Elsie (Richard) Visser; extended family, William Welt, Allen (Debbie) Welt and Sally (Rich) Dunning; mother-in-law, Barbara Pyle (Robert Becker); sister-in-law, Linda Pyle (Paul Lingle); brothers-in-law, Gordon Hershberger, Douglas (Bonnie) Pyle, David (Lisa) Pyle and Jeffrey (Joanne) Pyle; nieces, Charlene (Stanley) Fleszar and Sue Sill; along with many other nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Kaye Hershberger; and nephew, William Sill. Steve owned his own Marine Construction Company and being a licensed USCG Tug Boat Captain he and his 1901 Tugboat “Susanne S” traveled all over to help people either in rescue or in work. Steve had an unsurpassed love and respect for the water especially Sodus Bay and Lake Ontario. Steven always had many stories of his adventures on the high seas along with all the people he met along the way. He could strike up a conversation with anyone he met and chances are they knew someone in common. Steve loved scuba diving, vacationing, hunting and history. His sons, Sean and Seth, were his pride and joy; he loved them so and was so proud of the men that they became. Steve (“Window”) you left a void in our hearts, we love you so much and you will be missed by all. May peace and love surround you always. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, July 30, from 5-8 p.m. at the NORTON FUNERAL HOME, 45 W. Main St. in Sodus. Steven’s Memorial Service will be on Saturday, July 31 at 1 pm at the Christ Church, 8350 Bay Street in Sodus Point.
