Obituary of Thomas R. Hood Sr.

Sodus Center: Passed away peacefully on September 3, 2010 with his wife of 55 years, Eleanor by his side, following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Tom was a Korean War veteran, and a retiree from Gleason Works where he spent 41 ½ years. Tom spent most of his life in Sodus Center. He enjoyed his gardens, restoring antique wood stoves, auctions, many projects as well as fishing with his grandchildren and spending time with family and friends. Tom will be sadly missed by his family; his wife Eleanor; son Tom Jr. (Sandy); daughter Tammy (Michael) Case; cherished grandchildren Nathan and Cameron Hood and Kayla and Ryan Case; numerous friends and family members. He was predeceased by his parents June and Ralph Hood. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, September 11th from 10 – 11 a.m. with his funeral service immediately following from Norton Funeral Home, 45 West Main Street, Sodus. Interment with Military Honors will be at the Baptist Rural Cemetery, Brickchurch Road in Sodus Center. In lieu of flowers, Tom’s family has requested that donations in his memory be directed to the Pines of Peace, 2378 Ridge Road, Ontario, NY 14519, or to a charity of one’s choice.
