Sodus: Passed away on Monday, September 6, 2010 surrounded by his family. John is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy; his children Marion (Donald) Shultz, Roland (Doris) Schinsing and Thomas (Barb) Schinsing; grandchildren Diane (David) Burlee, Heather (David) Littlefield, David Shultz, Robyn (Christopher) Barnum, Jason Shultz, Richard Hewitt; great grandchildren Julia, Caitlin, Amy, Abigail, Reihley, John, Thomas, Makayla, Dustyn, Thea, Emma and Richard; brother Leo Schinsing II, several nieces, nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by great grandaughter Shay. John was a longtime employee at Sodus Fruit Farm where he was a foreman, served thirty plus years with the Sodus Fire Department, as well as having spent several years with the Town of Sodus Highway Department. Visitation will be held Thursday, 4-8 p.m. at the Norton Funeral Home, 45 West Main Street, Sodus. Interment will be private. There will be a Memorial Service at 3 p.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church of Sodus, 31 West Main Street, Sodus, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of John may be directed to either the Sodus Town Ambulance Corps, or to the Activity Fund at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Canandaigua.
