Obituary of Wuanita Graham

Wolcott: Wuanita Graham departed this life on January 5, 2016. She had resided in Wolcott, NY for many years. Wuanita was born June 17, 1957 at Barber Lyons Hospital in Lyons, NY. Her father, Robert Graham was from Nesmith, South Carolina and her mother Gladys (Robinson/Hayes) Graham was from Thomasville, GA. She was born the 5th of 6 brothers and sisters: Jimmie (deceased); Vera Alford of Winston-Salem, NC; Josephine Epps of Cameron, NC; Robert Graham of Ontario, NY; Dave Graham of Clyde, NY and Margaret McKinney of Auburn, NY. Wuanita graduated from North Rose Wolcott High School in 1975 and later attended Rochester Business Institute where she received an Associate’s Degree in Business Management in 1989. After completing her degree she worked for the New York State Department of Labor where she was employed as a Senior Employment Clerk for 28 years. There she was known to go above and beyond to help those she served. Those who knew Wuanita were the recipients of her gentle nature, loving smile and dry humor. She was always willing to give of herself and to help others, even if it meant at times going without. Wuanita was the loving mother of three children: Terry Graham in Rochester, NY; Teedgra Blackstock (Barry) in Eden, NC; and Theodis Terrance Collier Jr. (Lecia) in East Orange, NJ. She had six grandchildren: Antonea, Dominic, A.J., Anashska, Olivia and Joshua. As a single mother with three children, she never gave up despite the many challenges she faced. We celebrate her life and are grateful that she was the best mother anyone could ever have. We thank her for teaching us that we must work hard to succeed. Mom, no one will ever take the place of you. We will always carry you in our hearts. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 8 from 5 - 8 pm at Norton Funeral Home, 5925 New Hartford Street, Wolcott. Funeral Service will be on Saturday, January 9 at 10 am at the Christian Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 4000 Covell Rd, Clyde, NY. Interment will be at the Huron Evergreen Cemetery in Wolcott, NY.
