Sodus/Wolcott, New York Knapp, Isabelle Mae Bonney Isabelle “Izzy” Mae Bonney Knapp, born of Charles C. Bonney and Eva Sommer Bonney on January 19, 1918 in Syracuse, New York passed away on April 6, 2016. Izzy graduated from Sodus High School in 1934 at age sixteen and began work at Alton Canning Company as a secretary and bookkeeper. In 1961, a merger formed Curtice-Burns, Inc. She remained with her employer, Ed Burns and worked for Burnson, Inc., a personal holding company dealing in stocks and bonds. She was an assistant secretary for the Burnson, Inc. She retired in December of 1975 after completing forty years with the Burns Family. Isabelle and Donald Knapp of Wolcott were married on July 14, 1973 living at his parent’s farm on East Port Bay Road. They enjoyed traveling to Florida, gathering with old Navy buddies at reunions and fishing in Canada at the Green’s Camp. After Don died in January 2000, she lived in a private adult care home in Fair Haven, receiving excellent care in the Morning Glory Home under the Pryzgoda’s for the last 11 years. In May of 1961, to celebrate her mother’s retirement from Burns-Alton Corp. after 32 years of service; being superintendent for several years; they traveled by train to the West Coast to visit the Hall Family in San Francisco. Izzy joined the Eastern Star Chapter in May of 1937 in North Rose. She was Grand Rep for South Dakota from 1951 to 1953. Izzy bowled in the Wolcott League for several years developing a solid form and consistent scores. She was active in the Wayne County Business Women’s Organization throughout her business career. She is predeceased by her husband Don; sisters, Kathryn Bonney Catchpole (Victor) of North Rose/Auburn and Evelyn Bonney; aunt, Clara Sommer Bartleson (Alfred) of Sodus/Florida; niece, Elizabeth “Betsy” Catchpole of Auburn. She is survived by her nephew, Charles Catchpole, Sr. (Esther) of Sodus Point; niece, Alyssa Alice Hall of Calistoga, California; great nephews, Charles Jr., William, David, Stephen and Aaron; great nieces, Genna and Allison; ten great great nephews and nieces. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Sodus Rural Cemetery.
