Sodus: Passed on Thursday, February 11th, age 53, following a valiant battle with cancer. Doug is survived by his beloved wife, Diane; his children, Joshua (Emily), Kara (Joe), Joseph and Sander VanKerkhof; father, Douglas; mother, Mary (Tim) McCarthy; siblings, Curt, Vicki (Al) Nichols, Kathy (Gary) McCarthy, Kim (Dennis) Enright; mother-in-law, Joyce Tomer; in-laws, Corinne (Doug) Mott, Brian (Marcia) Tomer; special friend, Stella Ashlaw; faithful K-9 friend, Maddie; several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and co-workers.
Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, February 15, from 2 - 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. at NORTON FUNERAL HOME, 45 W. Main St. in Sodus. A Memorial Service celebrating Doug’s life will be held Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. from the First Reformed Church, 18 Maple Avenue in Sodus. Interment will be in Sodus Rural Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sodus Center Fire Department or to the First Reformed Church.
